They have a wide range of wedding invitation cards to suit the customer’s budget. Customers can also come up with their own ideas for their wedding cards choosing from a wide selection of materials and colors for their cards.
The wedding cards price range from as low as RM0.60 to RM15.00 for each card depending on the quantity and the quality of cards. If you wish to place your order, be advised that each order takes approximately three to four weeks to complete. The same goes for personalized wedding favors.
What Are Wedding Favors?
Wedding favors or Cenderahati Perkahwinan, in Malay, are wedding themed gifts you give to your wedding guests to celebrate your special day, and as a way to say Thank You. Weddings should reflect the individual personalities and priorities of the couple getting married. I am told that Alice’s Wedding Gallery has just launched a new range of wedding favors. It is more retro and hip to suit the current trend and also for couples who want something different for their wedding.
Multi-Cultural Wedding Favors
As a reflection of Sabah’s multi-cultural society, Alice’s Wedding Gallery caters for Chinese weddings as well as elaborate and rich Malay cultural weddings. According to Alice, “my passion is in our rich cultural wedding heritage, we must preserve it for future generations. Each culture is different and unique ……. and we must respect that and celebrate it in all its glory.”
The Chinese Wedding
For Chinese marriage custom, Alice’s Wedding Gallery has a wide selection items that has special meaning in the Chinese tradition, ranging from tea sets, table lamps, descendant pail set, umbrellas and more. There are 5 rituals in a Chinese marriage, and these customs are still practiced today. For the young generation, it is a show of respect and in my own case, a bit of fun for everyone involved. These rituals are the Proposal, the Betrothal, Bed Installation, Hair Dressing and the Wedding Day.
The Wedding Day is the one where everyone gets to make fun of the groom, and where the groom and his buddies have to go through a series of tests to prove his love. When the groom arrives, the main door of the house is locked and all the bridesmaid will try their best to get him to jump through hoops, and whatever else they can think of. His buddies on the other hand will do their utmost to negotiate less embarrassing or painful tasks. As a last resort, they are expected to carry out these tasks on his behalf.
It does not end there. When he has gain entrance into the house, he will find his bride locked in her room with her ladies in attendance. He is once again faced with a series of tasks, questions and whatever else the bridesmaid can come up with. To add to his discomfort, in Chinese tradition, the bride and the groom must leave the house together at a fixed hour. This ensures prosperity and good fortunate for the married couple. I have had friends tell me that there were times when they were not sure if they will even make it.
Finally, in order to pick up the bride, the groom has to give a red packet to all the ladies in the room. Again, this sum reflects the value she has in his eyes. As you can imagine, many of us guys think our wife-to-be is priceless, which does not always reflect in the amount of cash available at hand. Normally, after another furious round of negotiations, red packets are exchanged, and the red-faced (and sweating) bridegroom finally gets to see his woman at her most beautiful.
