The World’s Highest Via Ferrata And Asia’s First At Mount Kinabalu

Mount Kinabalu Via Ferrata is only offered by Mountain Torq in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. They have their own accommodations on the mountain, the Pendant Hut which can take up to 30 climbers.

The Pendant Hut is exclusively for Mountain Torq’s climbers, cosy and eco-friendly Alpine-inspired hut houses guests in a dormitory-style rooms or a private room for 4. Situated at Laban Rata, and they are unheated. So it will make for a chilly stay but it adds to the adventure.

I don’t know much about this activity, not having tried it myself. It looks like its more mountaineering than the normal hike up Low’s Pike.

Visit Mountain Torq Website

Mount Kinabalu via ferrata opened in 2007 to mix reviews, according to my tourist guide friends. Some found the photographs more exciting than the actual climb. Personally, I don’t see how this can be except perhaps that particular groups had some real mountaineering experience and found it not challenging. For the rest of us, it looks exciting enough as it is!

Visit www.mountaintorq.com to see if this is for you, It makes for an exciting alternative to the normal route. i read this on the website,”Experience the thrills and spills of mountaineering under a safe and controlled environment.”

I don’t know about you but the last thing I want to do on Mount Kinabalu is to have a spill!
