Coalition Duchenne – Expedition Mount Kinabalu

Put on your hiking boots and join Coalition Duchenne to climb Mount Kinabalu in a quest to raise global awareness for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Coalition is taking part in a global event to raise awareness for Duchenne. We will climb South East Asia’s Mt Kinabalu, on the island of Borneo, in the Malaysian state of Sabah.

At the summit of 13,455 ft, we will raise the Coalition Duchenne banner that will include the names of the major organizations dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne.

An international team will climb for the boys and men who face far greater challenges than any mountain peak. We are climbing for the boys and men who can’t and to honor those boys and men who have lost their lives to Duchenne.

Check out our website, and submit an entry form to join us for the climb, or make a donation to the cause.

What Is Duchenne?

Duchenne is a progressive muscle wasting disease that affects one in 3,500 boys worldwide. It robs boys of their ability to walk, breathe, eat and speak, and eventually takes their lives, often before they reach the age of 20. It leaves their minds unaffected.

The impact of Duchenne is felt accross the globe, from Asia to the USA, Australia, Europe, India, South America and Africa. Duchenne knows no boundaries, and does not discriminate between race, culture, socioeconomic status or country.

The mission of Coalition Duchenne is to raise global awareness for Duchenne, to fund research and to find a cure. Duchenne is a curable disease. This is a call to action. Now is the time to find a cure for Duchenne.

Join Expedition Mt Kinabalu – Summit of Borneo. It will be an adventure of a lifetime!

“Good luck to Coalition Duchenne and to everyone climbing Mt. Kinabalu to raise awareness for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Boys with Duchenne have challenges even I cannot imagine and your climb is a great way to celebrate their spirit.”
