This month is the Ramadan month, and it is a month of long holidays, sales and good food. It was also the school holidays, so we managed to spend lots of time with our angels and bring them out for some fun.
The run-up to Hari Raya meant traffic jams, but also pretty good shopping deals. Did you know that many Sabahans have a black belt in shopping? It’s true. Shopping is also our national past-time. Why else would there be so many shopping complexes in Kota Kinabalu city?
If you are wondering where the crowd was, these were taken on the 1st day of Hari Raya. The girls insisted we take them to Boo-Boo Land, an amusement outlet in 1 Borneo where the arcades and playground were.
The next day, we decided to go to Water World in Luyang. Again, those little princesses of ours had been waiting for us to take them swimming. Since they can’t actually swim, this was a good choice. The water park had a school holiday promotion where the tickets were RM10 per person. While Water World is quite small, the kids had a lot of fun.
And since kids loved beaches, we also brought them to Likas Bay. Initially, my princess wanted to go to Karambunai beach, but here was where we ended up. The water in the bay isn’t very suitable for swimming, and there was quite a bit of debris on the sand. Not the best of place to go for a swim or a day at the beach. Still, there were plenty of locals enjoying the water. A better choice would be Tanjung Aru beach.
For those who has not been to KK Times Square, there isn’t much to see there. Probably only 20% of the shops are opened, although there are 2 hotels there. Their promotion rates are below RM100 per room. Since KK Times Square is a little out of the way, I can’t really recommend staying here. But if you are from out of town and have your own transport, it’s a bargain. More Sabah Hotels here.
