Earth Hour 2013: 23 March 2013

Earth Hour is coming! See you under the stars, Saturday March 23 at 8:30pm. I love the whole idea of Earth Hour. Imagine the whole world coming together for that one hour, with the same goal. I like to think that for at least this hour, the world is united in a common cause.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle is the way to go. In our home, we have made it a point to reduce wastage without affecting our way of life. Quite honestly, we are consuming too much resources as it is.

Join the rest of the world in making Earth Hour an event that matters. We do this because it is fun and our kids love it. We are also doing this because we just want to.

Earth Hour 2013: No Plastic Bag Day

Saturday is and should be a “No Plastic Bag Day” when you are out and about doing your shopping. Retailers are not supporting this as they should be doing. It is so easy to do, just bring your own shopping bag. Goodness knows, most of us already have plenty of these at home.

No Plastic Bag Day should mean just that and it should be extended throughout the week. Why not? Modern trade retailers can save RM2,000 to RM5,000 per month from their operating cost. Multiply that over 12 months and you should get a tidy bonus!

Plastic Bags are Deadly
Plastic bags are cheap and also deadly. I call them the “Plastic Jellyfish”. Harmless until it is eaten by a marine animal – just ask Prof Steve at the Green Connection.

Earth Hour 2013: What Difference Can I Make?

Life is a game of inches, a series of small victories and constant striving for gains so small that you might not see them. But over time, it adds up. It doesn’t matter what the other person is doing, it is what I am doing that matters and I choose to make a difference.
