The Crown Borneo Hotel

The Crown Borneo is the newest hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Located in the centre of Tanjung Aru town just minutes away from Kota Kinabalu city, it has only just launched with its soft opening.

The Crown Borneo is a 28 rooms, spread out in 2 floors. The rooms offer a queen bed or twin beds, and comes with a bathroom attached with shower. All rooms are air-conditioned, and features a 32in LCD television with cable tv with sports channels. Coffee and tea making facilities are included, which is the usual for the majority of hotels these days.

The Soft Opening
The hotel is running a soft launch promotion of RM120 per night. It does not say when the promotion will end, but the normal price is RM150 per night, which seems quite high to me. Although new, this hotel has no star-rating. You can visit their website at The Crown Borneo.

Getting There
It only takes 5 minutes to reach the Crown Borneo from Terminal 2, if you are flying Air Asia. Terminal 2, KKIA, is located in Tanjung Aru. From Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Main Terminal, it takes perhaps 10 minutes. Free transfer from airport to hotel is available with advance booking or notice.

It only takes 10 minutes to get from Kota Kinabalu city to Tanjung Aru town. With taxis readily available in the city, as well as bus services, guests at this hotel should have no transportation woes. The well-loved Tanjung Aru beach is a long walk from the hotel, but well worth the walk.

Eating Out In Tanjung Aru
There are many coffee-shops located in Tanjung Aru, serving Chinese and Malay foods in the day time. Some are also opened at night, but otherwise Tanjung Aru is a quiet town in the evening. There is a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlet there if all else fails. You can also walk to Tanjung Aru beach if you want more choices and restaurants.

If you need to pick up any snacks or toiletries, you can do so at Sunny Supermarket. It is quite close by and brightly lit. Most business will close by 10pm, so be sure to do your shopping or dinner before 10.00pm.
