Rasa Ria Resort Tuaran

Sometimes you can tell how comfortable your stay will be the moment you set foot in a resort. I have been to Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort in Tuaran a few times now, and I always feel relaxed the moment I enter the lobby. It is beautiful, peaceful, clean and feels cool, even when the weather is warm.

This is the only resort in Sabah that has a nature reserve in Kota Kinabalu that has Orang Utans living there. This is a big hit with the guests staying there. Seriously, if you see a Orang Utan and you don’t get excited, you need to get back in touch with nature. For some reason, we have always felt closer to Orang Utans than with any other jungle animals.

The Coast Restaurant and Bar is an award-winning restaurant, featured many times in the print media. It is one of the most beautiful restaurant in Sabah. Rasa Ria resort also boasts an Indian restaurant, a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant, as well as their Terrance Coffee House. In addition to a lounge bar and a beach side bar.

The Price Of A Night
Being a luxury resort, set in a secluded location with all the facilities you could want, does not come at a low price. However, the price doesn’t go off the scale either. You can check their prices here. This link takes you to their website where you can check for room availability and make your booking. It helps to book early, the prices always seem lower when I check.

Getting There
Rasa Ria resort is located in Tuaran, which is about 30 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu city. Although it is a little off the beaten path, transportation can be easily arranged. The resort has their own transports, and taxis from Kota Kinabalu city will not hesitate to go there.

You could also arrange to go to Tuaran town, about a 5 minute ride away. The ride will take you along the rural countryside, where you can see padi fields and traditional houses. Experience the Sunday Bazaar, try out the local food, visit a Chinese Temple and climb the Pagado. There are 2 supermarkets in Tuaran, plenty of coffee shops, a KFC restaurant. Experience a little bit of life in rural Sabah.
