Spend any time in Sabah and you will look forward to getting away from the heat for just a day. Most people will head off to Kinabalu National Park when they can, but that is 1 1/2 hours away for most people.
Kasih Sayang Health Resort is only 20 minutes away for those living in Kota Kinabalu. Located 2,400 feet above sea level, it has a stunning 360° view of the Kota Kinabalu. You can see the beauty of the majestic Mount Kinabalu, the vast rainforest of the Crocker Range, or overlook the city of Kota Kinabalu. You can even see the sea and many of the islands that surround Kota Kinabalu.

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, and we were looking for some place to cool off. We were sick of indoor shopping malls, while Bukit Emas was too far away. Then we thought of Kasih Sayang.
From the main road of Jalan Tuaran Lama, it will only take you about 20 minutes if you drive really slow, or a distance of 13KM. It has a gradient of 30% (uphill steepness)so you may wanna drive slow so as not to overheat your engine. From Jalan Tuaran Lama, after the Menggatal Township, you will see a junction going into a government clinic. That’s also where you will find a big “Kasih Sayang” signboard.
Initially you may feel that the drive uphill seem to take forever, (Donkey from Shrek comes to mind), but the prize that awaits you on top is definitely worth it. The road is relatively new and a simple Kancil will have no problem negotiating that uphill drive.
It is a very nice and cooling place, but not too cold as ronco was only wearing shorts and t-shirt, although it will get colder at night or on a rainy day. The view is simply majestic, with breathtaking view of Mount Kinabalu, Crocker range and Kota Kinabalu city. The serenity and fresh air is probably why this place is dubbed health and wellness resort.
Health and wellness also translates into their food offering, with Dr. Lynn’s recommended food such as Salad, and broth is filled with vitamins and antioxidants dervived from only the freshest of vegetable ingredients. All of her recommended food is accompanied by a heart icon.
Of course there are many more food offerings, both Asian Food and Western. Our choice of food for today was Dr Lynn’s Salad, Lamb Chop, Club Sandwhich, Stir Fried Kuey Tiao, and Nyonya Stew with rice.

Many of my friends who has been there commented on the cool climate at Kasih Sayang Health Resort. Kasih Sayang in Malay means to give love or to love. It is an ideal place to go if you to rejuvenate your mind and body in the sanctuary surrounded by nature.
